Mr. Arun Sukumar

Arun Sukumar is a lawyer and analyst, currently heading the Cyber Initiative at the Observer Research Foundation, a New Delhi-based think tank. He has researched and written extensively on global internet governance and the IANA transition -- in his previous capacity as a Senior Fellow at the National Law University, Delhi, Arun coordinated and led several briefings, capacity-building workshops and seminars in New Delhi on internet governance. Arun has been an active participant in the ICANN multi-stakeholder ecosystem: he has attended ICANN meetings in Singapore and Buenos Aires, as well as Face-to-Face Meetings in Istanbul as a member of the Cross Community Working Group on ICANN Accountability. He was a panelist at the 2015 APrIGF session in Macau on internet governance issues in South Asia. Arun has previously attended the 2014 APrIGF in New Delhi as well as the 2014 Internet Governance Forum in Istanbul, Turkey. His travel to internet governance events has been supported by the National Internet Exchange of India, the National Law University Delhi and the ICANN Non-Commercial Users Constituency. Arun is an active member of the ICANN Non-Commercial Users Constituency and is currently leading an effort to revise its bylaws to reflect greater engagement and diversity. He holds a law degree from NALSAR University, Hyderabad and a Master's degree in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, Tufts University, Boston.
